I am an organ transplant survivor. God’s Word says – “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ.” Phil. 2:5. So I have a brain transplant!
Ezekiel 36:26 says, “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.” So I have a heart transplant and a spirit transplant as well.
Jesus told us about the Spirit coming to be our helper: John 14:26 says, “But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.”
People who live with organ donations – with transplants – have to take medicine the rest of their lives to help their bodies not reject the organs that did not originally come with their body. Our spiritual lives are the same. You might know Jesus and He has given you a new life – a new heart, mind and Spirit – but in order to keep your original man from rejecting your new equipment, you and I have to continue to take spiritual meds – Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand …”
Be blessed today – and remember to take care of your new equipment – even if you have had it for a while. You might need to test it out again and make sure it’s functioning correctly. Make sure it is correctly aligned with God’s Word. Nothing is worse than having great equipment that malfunctions because of owner neglect. I don’t know about you, but I want to be able to say every day – “Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.” Psalm 51:10. This is the prayer/psalm David prayed after being confronted with sin. It is never too late to make things right with God.
May your spiritual transplants be in good functioning order today and everyday!
